Weekly Review

Over the last week, the United States celebrated 246 years of independence, and a "Pluto returns" moment, heralding a time for great rebirth or decay. The nation that was once the world's "beacon of hope and freedom" now has to deal with increasing domestic conflicts, the effects of past traumas, and glaring realities. These collective narratives, shared by indigenous peoples (of the fight between oppressors and the oppressed), influence culture and the American psyche.

Why it matters: This week's general theme for my newsletters centered around writing productivity, communal stories, and cultural context. In the case of the United States, this 'cultural context' explains why logic seems overridden when dealing with domestic issues such as gun violence, mass shootings, etc. When you understand that, you learn how powerful collective narratives (culture) can be in decision-making. And how it even translates into professional settings.

Until next week, remember: through patience & persistence, it will come.
