IWCD203: The Mahabharata, Nuclear Events & World War 3

Daily #203 | Nobody wants another war, but is it inevitable?

Hey there,

World War III?

Seem to be hearing about it a lot on Twitter.

Over the last couple of months, I’ve been seeing things escalate between the US, China, and Russia (via Ukraine, but more specifically, Crimea).

And it’s eerily similar to how World War I started (via Austria).

In more recent times, it may seem like the Ukraine conflict started with Russia’s invasion of the country.

But if you look deeper, you’ll see things aren’t so clear-cut.

The start date for the Russo-Ukrainian War began in February 2014.

The “invasion” we heard about more recently, was just an escalation.

Putin’s stated original goal was to “demilitarize and de-nazify” Ukraine — not occupy it by force. However, that obviously changed when the new goal became the “liberation of Donbas.”

If you watch the news from the two sides — both Western and Russian — you’ll see both sides blaming one another and engaging in similar propaganda tactics.

One saying they’re fighting to preserve “democracy,” while the other says the US and its Western allies have essentially lost their way.

And then you got China.

Imagine if China did to the US what the US is doing to China (source)
